Step by step of bleaching knots on lace closure
Step 1: Create the mixture
You need to wear gloves beforehand. The gloves protect your hands from toxic chemicals in the products. Now, let’s start!
For a lace closure, we highly recommend you to use 2-3 scoops of bleach powder depending on the square of lace (such as 4×4, 5×5 or 2×6, etc.). Afterwards, add the developer to the mixing bowl gradually. You should not pour a large amount of developer or it will be a big mistake. You need to keep stirring the brush until it turns out a desired consistency without any lumps.
Step 2: Prepare the lace closure
If your lace closure has baby hair, you can spray some water and lay it down in the direction of other hair part. You can pin your lace closure inside out in a foam head or just put it in a flat area such as a table to do the process.
In case you intend to use aluminum foil, you need to pin it under the closure so it can cover both sides of your products for better result. You should do the same if you lay the hair in table instead.
Step 3: Bleaching knots on lace closure
You should apply the mixture to all of black knots only because it works with the hair only, it does not affect the color of lace. Therefore, you should not waste it. You need not to make it smooth or beautiful but make sure that there is no leftover and the mixture will not contact to other hair part.
Next, cover the lace with aluminum foil (if any) and leave it in for 25 minutes. Afterwards, check the knots by going through the hair. If the knots are still black, keep waiting for 10 minutes and check again. In case it hasn’t done yet, check the hair every 5 minutes until you get your desired result.
Step 4: Wash it out
After rinsing all the chemicals away, you need to wash it with shampoo and conditioner. Neutralizing products are good idea to remove all the residue to stop the bleach from working on your hair.
Provided that your lace looks orange due to the bleach, you need to use blue toner or purple toner to remove these unwanted colors. If you find it unnecessary, just skip this part.
Step 5: Dry it and make styles
You should hang it up for natural dry because the heat from the blow-drier will hurt your lace closure. In case it’s curly or wavy hair, you should add styling products to keep the textures.

FQAs
Which volume of developer should I use?
We highly recommend to use 20 to 30 volume for developer. If you have experience in bleaching and dying hair, you can go 40 volume for quicker result. However, we want to note that developer with 40 volume is really strong and it can burn your hair if you are careless. In conclusion, 30 is an ideal number for you.
Why we need a thick mixture?
If the mixture is thin and loose, it will go through the lace and bleach both the knots and the hair in the other side. It may become a disaster to your lace closure. Meanwhile, a cream form mixture will stay on the lace and work on the knots only.
Why we have to check the hair so frequent?
Different hair owns distinguished ability to go lighter. Hence, you cannot apply the same timing process to every lace closure. Moreover, when checking the hair frequently, you know the result at right time without over-saturating it which lead to hair breakage and hair fall.
Does bleaching knots on lace closure cause shedding?
It happens when you do it wrong. If the bleach overworks on the knots, it burns them all causing breakage and excessive hair loss. We never suggest customers to bleach the hair from dark color to light blonde. Alternatively, you should level it up to 2-3 tones only, so the dirty blonde is ideal.
